The weather is cooling, and I am turning to my bookshelves to keep me warm. There are a few upcoming releases I am excited for, but the majority of my anticipated book releases are being paired with a book tour that stops through Portland, so you can find those recommendations towards the end of this article.

For Portland, it is a busy month of book events for Analogue Worlds. When I use the term “Analogue Worlds,” this is short-hand for naming the genres of books that are worlds separate from our own: horror, fantasy, science fiction, etc.

If you find any events or upcoming releases I missed, please comment them below!

Upcoming Releases

An Amateur Witch’s Guide to Murder by K. Valentin – October 14, 2025
(Fantasy, Queer, Mystery)

Comedy fantasy with a queer love? Yes please! This book already looks like a great pick-me-up for spooky season.

Our Vicious Oaths by N.E. Davenport – October 28, 2025
(Romantasty, Fae, Enemies To Lovers)

I had the privilege of meeting N.E. Davenport at Rose City Comic Con and while her other books sounded interesting, it is her upcoming release that really caught my attention. Davenport sold her male love interest as a truly “morally pitch black” character and their meet cute being a hookup in a brothel. Sounds like Davenport is bringing some new elements to the stagnant Romantasy genre!

The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow – October 28, 2025
(Fantasy, Romance, Historical Fiction)

I already respected Harrow’s writing, but she recently released a newsletter in defense of purple prose and I fell even more in love with her work. I’m really looking forward to Harrow’s “genre-defying adventure through time” with rewritten tragic fates.

Portland Book Events

The following events are book-related events, usually centered around a particular author.

Some of these events might be book releases, but there has been a significant time between the book release and the event date. They are categorized here since you can easily find a copy of the book to read before the event.

Powell’s Books at Cedar Hills Crossing, 3415 SW Cedar Hills Blvd. Beaverton, OR 97005

Portland Book Tour Releases

All the following events are book tours that are stopping by Portland, OR. Some of these events have multiple books listed and that is because I would recommend these reads if you are interested in other books by the author (or if they sound familiar and you can’t figure out why). I have bolden the book that is going to be the book your release, along with the release date.
