While I review many forms of media, the primary posts you will find on InvestiGeek will be related to novels. With that in mind, I only have a few rating scales that you might see across my posts.

Overall Ratings

I do appreciate the 5-star rating scale, but I do find it limiting. This also means that you might find some interesting decimal ratings, but that simply means that I had a difficult time rating it on a limited scale, so I had a bit of fun adjusting my true value.

  • ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐: This book utterly blew my mind and I probably will be trying to find ways to work it into the conversation for the rest of the year, if not longer.
  • ⭐⭐⭐⭐: A fantastic read. It was a fun ride and I enjoyed it. I probably will forget the finer details within the month and the main character within the year.
  • ⭐⭐⭐: A pleasant novel, despite a few hiccups.
  • ⭐⭐: Probably Did Not Finish (DNF). I was itching to put this book down the whole time and start on the next TBR.
  • : If I actually finished a book of such a low rating, I probably am doing it for a bit. With so many great books in the world, I better have a great reason for wasting my time.

Spice Rating

As always, ratings are subjective; spice rating are even more so. Please note that I am a seasoned AO3 consumer and participated in the rise of BookTok’s Romantasy era.

  • N/A: Oooooh, are they flirting?
  • 🌶️️: THEY KISSED!!!
  • 🌶️️🌶️️: Not quite fade to black, but still leaving things to be imagined.
  • 🌶️️🌶️️🌶️️: Better description than our sixth grade Sex Ed course.
  • 🌶️️🌶️️🌶️️🌶️️: We here for a fun time. The average Joe would blush if they knew what you were sticking your nose in.
  • 🌶️️🌶️️🌶️️🌶️️🌶️️: Did you see that list of trigger warnings?! They weren’t kidding. You have been warned!
